What a whirlwind the last quarter has been!  During this time we have seen and experienced many changes, some welcome and pursued and some we wish may not have come to fruition.  No matter what changes may occur, we here at Living Unlimited continue to strive to provide the best services in the most efficient ways possible.  We understand that our attempts to meet these standards are rarely something that we do alone.  There is a very true saying that we use at Living Unlimited and that is that our staff wear many hats and have many customers.  Our customers include the people that we serve and their families/support systems, the funding agents that ensure that we have the funds to provide our services, and the employers who are willing to give many of our clients a chance at employment.  The one customer that often is overlooked as a customer is the employees of the program – each other.

Without our employees we would have not be able to provide the service to the customers who are in need, we would not be able to help our funders meet their requirements and goals that they need in order to continue to receive their funding and we would not be able to help employers fill those jobs left vacant.  I believe that any program is a reflection of their employees and as I noted last time, we have some pretty great employees!  In order to remind them of how great we think they are and to give them some much deserved recognition, we will be adding an “In the Spotlight” section to our website.  Each quarter, the managers of our three departments will identify one employee who has gone above and beyond in five essential categories.  Voting will take place and one employee will be chosen as the “Employee of the Quarter”.  This employee will have a write up that will appear in our new section.  Head over to the "In the Spotlight" section  to learn all about our first of many great employees:  Teresa Carroll and our first employer for the south vocational region: Steve Girton of Nell's Shurfine.

We will also be spotlighting an “Employer of the Quarter” for both our North and South vocational departments.  This employer will be nominated by the staff with one employer chosen according to the efforts/opportunities that they have provided to individuals who may have never worked before.  It is amazing to me that in this state of the economy, we can still continue to rely on employers to understand that hiring somebody with a disability is not an act of kindness but an action that will contribute to their workforce.

Please join us in celebration and recognition of those “customers” who are deserving of thanks.  Remember the chosen few listed on this website are only a sampling of all of the customers who go above and beyond every day.  It just takes one second to thank them and yourself for doing all that you can.  That second may make somebody’s 24 hours exceptional.
